Sixteen natural gas operating companies were organized into a Joint Industry Project to fund the development of an industry-sanctioned, industry-maintained measurement technician training program. The program, designed using the lated instructional design methods, consists of over 500 hours of instructor led training, 30 hours of web based training, 16 one-day laboratory activities and a knowledge assessment tool. This project represents a major change in the way the natural gas industry will train measurement technicians. As an ongoing concern, the program will remain current and relevant into the future.
