Lex is a global leader in flow measurement and allocation of oil and gas. His expertise is broad, ranging from conventional measurement and allocation to recent new developments in multiphase and wet gas flow metering. In his role at Shell as global principal technical expert for hydrocarbon measurement and allocation, Lex worked with operators, international standardization bodies, and government regulators on every continent. His long experience in oil and gas gives him a unique set of capabilities, whether in providing input on production projects, conducting training sessions, overseeing audits and reviews, or facilitating workshops.
Lex has authored and presented technical papers in numerous venues, and contributed to both international and local standards. He holds two patents.
After earning his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in physics at the Technical University of Eindhoven in the Netherlands, Lex joined Shell, initially in Shell Research, and spent the following 30 years in different functions and the vast majority of his career in the metering and allocation business. He actively participated in the development of multi-phase and wet gas flow measurement (hardware and processes) over the last two decades. At Shell he held the position of Global Principal Technical Expert on Production/Fiscal Measurement and Allocation where he managed technology, processes and people. Lex left Shell in 2010 and began work as an independent Metering and Allocation consultant. Lex joined the Letton Hall Group in September 2013.
Next to family, Lex is interested in serious photography and is very active in sports. He is an enthusiastic tennis player, and enjoys running along the North Sea shore in his home town of The Hague. In addition, his extensive travels by way of the Oil and Gas business have sparked an interest in seeing various parts of the world and discovering other cultures.
