Jeff began his career earning dual B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics at Middle Tennessee University and a M.S. degree in Physical Chemistry at Southern Illinois University. In his first job he worked as a toxicology research scientist in the U.S. Army Walter Reed Institute of Research and Medical Center. After completing his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry at Southern Illinois University, he served as a post-doc fellow at the UCLA Dept of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Jeff joined Chevron in 1977 as a Research Chemist in La Habra, where he supervised various fluid sampling and analysis and phase behavior experimental and simulation research. After the closure of Chevron’s La Habra facility, he moved to Houston where he supported Chevron’s operations globally as a research consultant on flow assurance challenges for various projects. Jeff developed a widely recognized reputation in the industry as an expert on PVT and phase behavior, wax, and asphaltenes, and was named a Fellow of Chevron in 2013. Jeff joined the Letton Hall Group in 2016 as a Principal Advisor to apply his expertise in reservoir fluids and flow assurance to a wider range of applications. Jeff also serves as Adjunct Professor at Rice University in the Dept. of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, and Affiliate Faculty at the Colorado School of Mines in the Dept. of Chemical and Biological Engineering. He is an active member and leader in Deepstar, Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Institute of Petroleum Engineers and the Reservoir Engineering Research Institute.

I like to watch soccer, basketball, and football and love to listen to music. I am also interested in philosophy and history.
