Doug has an extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of the training function. This includes design, development, delivery, measurement and management. He has designed, developed and implemented a number of training programs in the energy industry which includes natural gas distribution and transmission, exploration and production, electric distribution, measurement and transmission. He is considered an expert in the learning technology arena within the industry and has spent over 20 years working with learning management systems, online self-study courses, online instructor led courses, and mobile performance support tools to name a few.
Doug began his career working for Enserch Exploration in 1980 as a draftsman. He began developing and delivering training on personal computers as they were integrated into the workplace during the late 80s. He moved within Enserch Corporation working on a variety of projects including the design and development of a pre-cursor to the modern learning management systems (LMS). He also oversaw the design of Enserch’s employee development architecture. When Lone Star Gas was purchased by TXU, Doug began working with both electric and gas functions. During this time, he led a team working to create a strategy for knowledge management and collaboration using technology. In 2006, Doug started his own business and worked with a number of clients including the Southern Gas Association (SGA) where he served as Manager of Learning and Development. For the last 5 years, Doug has presented topics on learning technology at the SGA Training Professionals Roundtable.
Besides spending time with his family, Doug is passionate about helping others be successful. He spends time mentoring young adults on ways to increase their chances for success. When he has free time, Doug likes to play golf, read about new learning trends, and research technology. Doug is working on several pet projects that are part of his Success Initiative which include learning games for teens and young adults, interactive storybooks for children and mentoring guides that are all designed to help learn the personal and interpersonal skills needed to be successful in any aspect of life.
