As a nuclear physicist, Jim was a key developer of borehole logging tools used to evaluate subsurface formations and multiphase flow in the wellbore. Jim has developed many different types of measurement sensors and instrumentation, and has a particular expertise in the high pressure/high temperature (HPHT) measurement environment. He led the development of sputtered thin film and micro-machined silicon transducers for aerospace, nuclear, petroleum, and sanitation applications. Jim has worked extensively in multiphase and wet gas measurement and allocation, and is a recognized expert in all aspects of oil and gas flow measurement. Jim has executive management experience leading a large product development and sales/support organization.

Jim is a graduate of Texas Christian University in Physics and Math, and holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Nuclear physics from Iowa State University. Jim has worked in the exploration, production, and transmission sectors of the oil & gas industry for over 40 years. Jim began his career at Schlumberger as Head of Physics in their Houston R&D center, then Head of Technology in their Paris (Clamart) R&D center. He later served as Director of Engineering and Technology at Statham Tranducer, a company acquired by Schlumberger. At Schlumberger Jim developed downhole instruments, transducers, and methods to make measurements in deepwater production to improve the allocation of hydrocarbons for various major production companies. Jim then took over as Senior VP and General Manager of Daniel Flow Products, where he was responsible for product development, manufacturing, and marketing. Jim co-founded the Letton Hall Group in 2001.

Jim has been married for over fifty years, with two children and three grandchildren. He has lived in Switzerland, France and the United Kingdom. Jim is interested in wood and metal-working projects, and design and construction of home automation systems. Jim is also a wine connoisseur. For recreation, he enjoys golf and traveling throughout the world.
