Eric’s career has covered a broad range of areas within the oil and gas industry, resulting in a unique combination of skills. As a measurement engineer, Eric developed mobile gas sampling systems, significantly reducing the time required for analysis and improving field technician efficiency. As a researcher, he applied his expertise in fluid properties to develop an inferential fluid property meter and contributed to API MPMS Chapter 14.1, as well as other industry measurement standards. Through the Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America, Eric has managed efforts to develop subsea multiphase sampling systems and a tool to estimate the uncertainty in multiphase meter systems. Eric’s expertise also includes fluid modeling for single- and multi-phase measurement applications. His interest in continuing education for field technicians led to the development of an industry-sanctioned measurement training program that has become the standard for natural gas measurement operating companies. He is a frequent author and contributing editor to industry publications. Accustomed to managing multiple projects, Eric is a key executive in the Letton-Hall Group, where he serves as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

With B.S. Mechanical Engineering and M.S. Systems Engineering degrees, Eric began his career learning the realities of measurement in the field as a measurement engineer at Questar Pipeline, where he became active in collaborative industry research efforts and worked towards improving fiscal measurement. Driven to investigate greater detail, Eric joined the ranks of Southwest Research Institute where he developed and managed several applied research programs in the areas of gas flow measurement, flow meter installation effects, gas sampling and quality determination. Since joining the Letton Hall Group in 2007, Eric has added expertise in instructional design, multiphase flow measurement, multiphase fluid sampling and fluid modeling. Eric has contributed extensively to AGA, API and GPA standards and reports and is a frequent instructor and industry schools.

Eric enjoys outdoor activities and tinkering with computers. He is an avid skier and also enjoys fishing, boating and relaxing by the pool.
